Events and feste / Campo 78 - WWII POW Camp 9 May 2019 0930

Campo 78, also known as Prigione di Guerra 78 ? is an Italian, former prisoner of war camp located at Fonte d?Amore, just outside the town of Sulmona in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. It was in use during both World Wars and during WWII it held as many as 3,000 British & Commonwealth servicemen ? many of whom had been captured during the North African campaigns. In 2014, a local nonprofit association ?Una Fondazione Per Il Morrone? was established to organize visits to the area which otherwise is not open to the public.

In collaboration with the Fondazione, a private visit to Campo 78 is scheduled Thursday, 9 May 2019 at  0930. We have arranged for a two-hour private tour with an English-speaking guide. A donation is highly encouraged. Ours hosts want to know the size of the group for this tour so, if you could be so kind, contact me if you plan to attend. I can also answer or pass on your questions about this exciting and informative visit especially arranged for the anglophone community. GRAZIE!!
I, Gareth Horsfall,  am posting this to let you know about a FREE event I am holding on May 7th at the Castello di Semivicoli.   I am from The Spectrum IFA Group and am holding a Brexit discussion event there to discuss the financial implications of living in Italy, post Brexit.    I, myself will be talking about  TAX in Italy, correct declaration of incomes and assets and automatic sharing of tax information across borders,  and also the work I have been doing with BRITISH IN ITALY to try and preserve rights of British citizens in Italy post Brexit.  I will be joined by Robert Walker from Rathbones Investment Management, London,  who will be discussing the impact of GBP v EUR  and also the outlook for it in a post Brexit world.   He will also be discussing world financial markets and the problems we may face in the near future with European elections, Trump/China trade wars and lots more.

The discussion will open at 10:30am for arrivals and the discussion will start at 11am until 1pm.  A free buffet lunch with wine will be provided afterwards and give chance for you to speak with other attendees and also the speakers on a one to one basis.

If you are interested in attending you can email or call Gareth Horsfall on 333 649 2356 to book your place asap.

I hope I have posted this in the right place!!

Events and feste / Re: Montonico festival, Bisenti

Unfortunately it rained but nevertheless there were hoards of people there and lots of very imaginative floats. I went for lunch at a restaurant just outside the centre of town and noticed lots of camper vans. The restaurant owner said they’ve been coming for the last three years and each year more and more come. I suppose it avoids a drunken drive home as the carabinieri are pretty hot on stopping people as they drive away but also some of the people have come from quite a distance so at least it’s bringing some new money to Bisenti.
