Doctors, dentists, hospitals / Re: Health Service
« Last post by Cesare Rinato on July 20, 2017, 10:16:56 PM »
I suspect this is really a new topic, But has anyone private Italian health insurance, or can recommend a good broker to talk to? When I first came here I took out medical insurance with PPP on the understanding they would fly me back to the UK, if I was taken ill. My concern was waking up in hospital and not understanding what was being said. At the time my Italian insurance broker offered me an alternative which was considerably cheaper. Unfortunately, so much time has past I am now so ancient that his company will no longer insure me.  Any ideas welcome

Linseed if you know of an English speaking optician could you post the details on here? I know someone else who is looking for one.

I would go with Levi, see the doctor first. Have you done anything to cause the problem, is it discoloured?

I think a trip to the doctor for a referral would be my first action. If your Italian isn't up to it could you take a friend? If not write down what's wrong and do a google translate, it may not be good Italian but it should get the message across. Good luck, hope you get it sorted quickly.

There's a specialist eye unit at the hospital in Ortona.  Not sure if anyone there speaks English and I don't know how you would be received without an appointment, but it sounds as if you need to see someone urgently.
