Seems like we've been lucky according to this BBC report.

In fact, if it's 9C & wet down here, it must be snowing high up...

Well it started raining heavily here (Civitella Casanova) mid-afternoon yesterday & it's still going. We went into Pescara earlier today & it's pretty grim out there. Lots of roads have rivers running down them, there are quite a few (minor) landslides with tractors out shovelling the stuff back, lots of flooded fields & lots of deep puddles / lakes in the road to catch out the unwary. Plus, it's only 9C here & it's looking unlikely to improve.

Let's hope that's all the foul weather over before next summer.  ;D

Extreme weather warnings / Orange weather alert

Il Meteo has issued an orange weather alert because of heavy rain in Teramo,Pescara and Chieti regions and some schools are closed because of flood risk.

Stay safe!

Might be worth keeping an eye to Il Meteo for Sunday for your area. I've looked at a few places and it says thunderstorm for them all around 17:00, but also looking at the "altri dati" it gives you the % chance of grandine (hail), it was high for all the areas I looked at. Of course it may (hopefully) come to nothing.

At least the temperature dropped for a bit and I won’t hsve to water the plants this evening 🙃
Well it's just dropped a lot more for us outside in the last half hour or so... Not too sure about our own temperatures mind you!

Glad you saw something. I went to a festa and forgot all about it until I got home then sat out for 30 minutes but saw nothing except for beautiful star studded sky.

Perseid meteor shower tonight
Thanks, it made me more determined (and stay up later), spotted 4 last night and one went right across the sky!

Well the peak is around now every year, but you see many 1-2 weeks before and after. Disappointed we have not seen too many this year. We spotted 3-4 one day last week and despite looking out most nights we’ve only seen one more. Last night was superbly clear and I expected to see at least a couple – 1! Still they are great to spot, so will look out during the festa  and afterwards (vino consumption allowing) :-[
