Seems that cancelling Sky is difficult in the UK too although it has it's compensations. Would never happen here.   http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3091022/Man-wins-1-500-payout-Sky-BILLING-25-hour-time-wasted-two-YEARS-trying-service-cancelled.html

Difference is that someone has the confidence in the UK legal system to seek redress. Granted it is a pain to cancel in the UK, but it's certainly better than it used to be. It's another the EU should legislate on to force companies that let you sign up for their services to insist they also have on-line facilities to allow you to cancel!

A (usually reliable) friend mentioned yesterday that the EU was 'banning' geoblocking and satellite footprint restrictions (the features which mean you can't get UK TV 'normally' in Italy) within the whole of Europe.

Quite what this means (I can't imagine you'd be able to get UK TV from an Italian aerial for example), or when it might happen, I don't know - but someone might like to research this before spending any money on TV specific solutions.

It might point the way towards a EU wide TV Licence!
