I'm sure some people will find this link very interesting. We've driven on some of the roads around Spoltore but didn't know anything of the history...

All the more fascinating to those that know the area! Wonder if a map of the circuit could be dug up? I can see the hill coming down from Spoltore, but wonder which way they went after Capelle sul Tavo to Montesilvano? Thanks for the link…

I read the book about this a few years ago, well worth a read. Some drivers had a very lucky escape on the 'Spoltore bend'.

There is a monument on the main road between Spoltore and Cappelle Sul Tavo, positioned very near the bend Jack Brabham nearly lost his life. No wonder he says Pescara was the most dangerous of all the Grand Prix road courses.

That's a lovely monument. What an interesting bit of history you have brought to light.

And I've just checked that this book is available as a Kindle edition for €3.99 so it will be my bedtime reading for a few days.

We'll definitely look out for that when/if we're down again.........
