If you're talking 5-8 a day then satellite with Tooway is a more reasonable alternative. We had this with Bentley Walker for years before we could connect to Micso and although it was pricey it was very  reliable. the newer dishes can be self installed although it took a bit of figuring out. I sympathise with you PJM as we were in your situation for years with no alternative but satellite as even the dongle with TIM wouldn't work at our house.

We have an unlocked 4g dongle that cost around 50 bought on Amazon 2-3 years ago, they are cheaper and faster now. Package with Wind at the moment is 10/mth, TIM your current supplier has a very similar package. I believe your problem is both the speed and the limited data allowance using your current dongle. For spped you need to look at the Mbps of your current dongle, if it's over a year old, or even worse not 4g compatible, then it's likey much slower than what is available now.
All the main moblie data suppliers offer bigger data allowances, but these are still no good if you don't have enough speed/bandwidth. Even if you do, some HD these days will cost 3-4gb of data allowance for an hour or so of download, so unless unlimited data allowance, then it may be no good.

Video is always the sticking point. For just generic internet with browsing, email ect, you could easily get away with just using your phone as a hotspot as the usual 3gig allowance will probably last you. As the Abruzzo expat population is heavily weighted in the Brit favor, just getting Sky IT is not the best solution as my Brit friends generally want BBC feeds. For the Yanks, Sky It has lots of US channels, so we can live with it.

Like Lui, we used Bentley Walker for satellite broadband for several years before we could tap into Micso. The BW feed was easily fast enough for streaming HD video & was very reliable. I seem to remember we paid ~ 50pm towards the end.

Interestingly, when the Micso guy came out here he initially said that he didn't have line of sight as the hill was in the way, but he pointed the dish at another Micso user's dish & somehow tapped into their feed & it's been 100% reliable for the 8 months (?) since we started with them.
In Abruzzo since March 2013
