Itís a lovely programme and puts the lie to the old joke of the smallest book in the world being the Italian book of war heroes, there were, in fact, very many brave Italians who risked their lives to help escaped allied soldiers.

We watched it last night and I can recommend it and the other 2 in the same series. If you havent read Love and War in The Appenines by Eric Newby get a copy as it is a very moving book on the same subject.
